U.S. Gets Copa America Reprieve
The United States National Team had to be disappointed with the effort given in their first Copa America Centenario match, as they lost 3-0 to Colombia. Their position in the tournament improved greatly after Costa Rica and Paraguay played to a scoreless tie, as the U.S. control their own destiny heading into Tuesday’s match against Costa Rica. If they win their remaining Group A matches, then the United States will secure a spot in the knockout round. Costa Rica is coming into Tuesday’s match shorthanded, as center-back Kendall Watson received a red card in the closing minutes of the match with Paraguay and cannot play. The squad is already without injured star goalkeeper Keylor Navas and defenseman Giancarlo Gonzalez, as the lineup options are dwindling.
